In a bid to break out of the regional facilities in Ontario, CA, the show is in the Las Vegas Convention Center. We had an outstanding keynote speaker to open - Gary Vaynerchuk of Wine Library TV. @garyvee . and that went a long, long way towards reversing the initial bad vibes of a relatively small convention rattling around in a few rooms in the North Hall of the LVCC. Are You an Aspiring iPhone Animator?
Add to iTunes | Add to YouTube | Add to Google | RSS Feed Here̵... More
Add to iTunes | Add to YouTube | Add to Google | RSS Feed Here’s a happy face that I created. It’s not just any happy face though. It’s a happy face that animates into a puddle of good. And out of that puddle of goo comes some pink puss. Ok, so I made that up. Basically this is a Flip Book Application for the iPhone. You may remember that recently I reviewed a similar App, called the FlickBook. This one costs $10.00, compared to $5.00 for the FlickBook. Now, you may be already asking whether double the price is worth it. I’m here to tell you, it is. The tool set that comes with FlipBook is just awesome. Drawing hand held animation gets easier, and more fun using FlipBook on the iPhone. FlipBook makes it easy to create colorful animations with your fingertips, and share them with your friends and family. Getting started is easy, simply download the $9.99 application from the app store and start animating. Use anything from eraser to onion skinning to layered drawing. Draw on top of images from your photo album including images taken with your iPhone’s camera. Touch play when you’re ready to see how your movie looks, and use the accelerometer to control how fast your movie plays then upload it to flipbook.tv and share it with everyone. FlipBook puts animation into your hands. FlipBook has easy to use drawing controls and is available for iPhone and iPod Touch. Some of its features include customizable brush and eraser sizes, an advanced color picker, layer-based drawing, and a move tool, enabling you to create beautiful drawings. Use one finger to draw and two fingers to control. Bring up the toolbar by tapping with two fingers. Pinch with two fingers to zoom in and out or slide two fingers around the screen to pan. When zoomed out, swipe with two fingers to go forward and back through your frames. FlipBook allows you to choose between varying your movie’s speed with the accelerometer or use a fixed-frame rate. While paused, swipe your finger to change frames. You can easily upload movies you create using FlipBook, or email them to friends. Create layer-based drawings using customizable brushes and multiple colors. There are just so many cool things you can do with this App, that you’ll find you used more than $10 worth in the first sitting alone. This App is very clean, and very advanced. It’s quite intuitive, which is great for most people. If you do enjoy flip books, art or animation, be sure to give FlipBook a shot. I give it a huge thumbs up! Email Jokes Wit And Humor. Is VNC on the iPhone Worth Using?
Add to iTunes | Add to YouTube | Add to Google | RSS Feed A communi... More
Add to iTunes | Add to YouTube | Add to Google | RSS Feed A community member sent me a $75 iTunes gift certificate the other day. $50 of it was for a birthday present, and the other $25 was to buy and review Teleport for the iPhone. Thank you, so much. I really appreciate it! Teleport is a VNC application that impressed me from the first time I started playing with it. It quickly picked up servers (machines with VNC running) throughout my local network. I only had to add one manually, and that one is on a completely separate network. He says that he sent me the money to review this to see if it’s worth the money or not. When launched, Teleport will scan your network and find any machines on which you’ve enabled sharing–you can then select the proper machine, enter the password, and save that connection for future use. Once connected to a machine, you’ll find that Teleport can display all of that machine’s displays, and display them at their full resolution. You can rotate the screen horizontally, and use the usual iPhone gestures to zoom in or out on the display. Beyond zooming, though, Teleport offers a full suite of gestures to do those things you’d do on a Mac or PC. A two-finger tap is a right-click; drag is a double-tap, followed by a drag motion; move scroll bars with two-finger vertical swipes; send the Left and Right Arrow keys with a two-fingered horizontal swipe. If you need to really work with remote machines, Teleport is a worthwhile investment, even with its current issues of occasional lockups or crashes. The way you use gestures for control is intuitive, the ability to position your finger away from the mouse cursor greatly helps with usability, the local-echo keyboard reduces typing errors, and the overall interface just feels very well thought out and works well. Add in the auto-discovery of servers, and you’ve got a winning application–even with the steep admission price–for those who need to really work with remote machines on their iPhone or iPod touch. If you have a need to have this program, I would wait for a bit until another version is released. I have a very good idea that this will quickly be updated to work out the bugs and crashes. This program works very well for the most part, and I’m looking forward to seeing where they go with future releases. Wholesale Network For Online Business. New Video Platform Delivers Content to iPhone, Apple TV
New jack-of-all-trades video platform mDialog lets users upload, sh... More
New jack-of-all-trades video platform mDialog lets users upload, share and watch user-generated and professional content online, on Apple TV, and on their iPhones. With the number of video sites on the web, it's nearly impossible for a newcomer to stand out, but mDialog manged. It's launched a legitimate iPhone application that was available in time for the launch of the iPhone 3G, CEO Greg Philpott says. mDialog uses the same MPEG-4 H.264 video standard as Apple, and its compatibility with Apple products could trigger its mainstream appeal. Its high-resolution video also sets it apart; mDialog is able to easily compress high-quality and large video files with its mLoader application. So far mDialog seems most useful for personal video sharing, but it is working on expanding its professional content. The company got the rights to distribute HBO web series Blood Copy and is the online video platform for French Maid TV. The site will also publish an original web series, "Cooking to Get Lucky," starting sometime this fall. Co-hosts Eden Riegel from "All My Children" and Bob Guiney from "The Bachelor" will help users cook meals to impress their dates. --Kelsey Blodget, Associate Producer Less

What’s Your Favorite iMac Tip?
Add to iTunes | Add to YouTube | Add to Google | RSS Feed Yeah̷... More
Add to iTunes | Add to YouTube | Add to Google | RSS Feed Yeah… I have a new iMac. Isn’t she gorgeous? I’ve been looking at getting one for awhile, to use for a machine to live stream. The live stream has been being powered using a Mac Mini that’s kind of old. It’s just underpowered, and not easy to keep everything going. So anyway, the iMac is going to run the chat and stream, and hopefully everything will run much more smoothly. I’m not sure how it will all be set up at this point, but I’m happy to have new options. I have to thank Ponzi, who gave this to me for my birthday. As a Geek, you can never have too many computers, especially if you work from home. The best part of doing unboxing videos is being able to tease people all day. No matter what it is, I’ll leave the box sitting on my desk all day. People will join and watch, waiting to see what I’ve gotten, and what I’m going to do with it. At the time I recorded this particular video, we had nearly 900 people watching the live stream. I love when so many of you want to join us and see what we’re up to! iMac sets the standard for elegance and power. It packs a complete, high-performance computer into its all-in-one design. With an anodized aluminum frame and glass cover, it’s striking to behold. The 20- and 24-inch glossy widescreen displays make photos and movies come alive with rich color. The use of recyclable glass and aluminum makes iMac friendlier to the environment, too. The ultrathin Apple Keyboard perfectly complements iMac. Its anodized aluminum enclosure features low-profile keys with a crisp, responsive feel. The keyboard includes special function keys for one-touch control of Mac features, and two USB 2.0 ports provide high-speed connectivity to your iPod, Mighty Mouse, digital camera, and other devices. With iMac, details make all the difference. For example, because it’s made from a single sheet of aluminum, you won’t see any seams or screws except for a single compartment on the bottom that provides easy access to the memory slots. The built-in iSight camera and microphone are integrated so neatly you barely notice they’re there — until you need them for a video chat. So once I get it all out of the box, I was happy to see a wireless keyboard, and the Mighty Mouse that I love using so much. It’s always fun to unbox Apple products! I know… everyone wants me to plug this thing in. It’s a 24″ model, and was not easy to get out of the box, believe it or not. I love the design of the iMac. It’s very clean and uncluttered. Thank you, Ponzi, for the iMac!! I know this will get a lot of use, and the stream will run much better now. The 12 Month Internet Millionaire. Happy Apple IPhone, Brand New For March 2008. The Boston and Seattle iPhone Apps Catalog
Mobile, wireless, apple Wade Roush wrote: It’s been one month... More
Mobile, wireless, apple Wade Roush wrote: It’s been one month to the day since Apple simultaneously released the iPhone 3G, pushed the 2.0 version of the iPhone firmware to all iPhone owners, started distributing native iPhone applications through the App Store, and launched its MobileMe communications service. Of all these changes, the most momentous, in the context of the mobile industry as a whole, was probably the introduction of the App Store. Until the appearance of third-party applications that ran natively on the iPhone, the device was just a super-cool combination phone and iPod with an excellent Web browser. (Unless, of course, you dared to jail-break your device, void your warranty, and install apps not approved by Apple.) But now it’s a full-fledged mobile computer. You can do almost anything on your iPhone that you can do from a Mac or a PC, provided you’re willing to use the tiny on-screen keyboard. In fact, you can do a lot more, since any program that runs on iPhone can tap into its built-in camera and microphone, its motion-sensitive accelerometer, and its GPS chip. That pushes the state of mobile technology forward immeasurably, and it’s an advance that companies like Google, LG, Motorola, Nokia, Samsung, and Sony-Ericsson are now struggling to catch up with. Here at Xconomy we’ve been saying for a while now that we want to showcase developers in our Boston and Seattle home regions who are contributing to the iPhone revolution with their own apps. Turns out that was easier said than done, since Apple made developers sign Draconian non-disclosure agreements that prevented them from showing their apps to outsiders until the launch of the App Store. Even now, there’s no quick way to figure out where the makers of the roughly 1,500 apps featured in the App Store are located. But for you, valued reader, we will go to any length. Below is our first pass at a catalog of organizations in the Boston and Seattle areas that have created iPhone apps. With one exception, the programs listed are all native applications available from the App Store. You’ll notice that the Seattle area is much better represented in our lists than Boston. There are at least three possible reasons for that. 1) We just haven’t found all of the Boston-area mobile app developers working on software for the iPhone. 2) Boston is indeed one epicenter of the mobile industry, but the area’s wireless companies tend to cluster around infrastructure technologies and mobile marketing rather than consumer-facing applications. 3) Seattle, by contrast, is one of the world capitals of consumer applications development, especially in the gaming and productivity areas. We’re sure we haven’t found all of the Boston and Seattle companies working on iPhone apps, so we’re counting on you to help us add to these lists. Please send additions to editors@xconomy.com and/or leave a comment below. iPhone Apps from Companies in Boston RunKeeper—Raizlabs (Boston, MA). Category: Healthcare & Fitness. In After Apple Picking, Robert Frost takes an ordinary experience and transforms it into a meditative moment, a philosophical musing. Everybody knows the feeling of satisfaction and sleepiness after a long day’s work. This is how the speaker in the poem is feeling now. He is exhausted because he has worked so long and so hard. Frost talks about one day in life, but this one day represents the whole life of the speaker. The sleep which ends the day, also represents the end of his life.
