DJ Hell-In The Mix (Death Disco Radio)

DJ Hell takes you on a ride with this unbelievable live Death Disco Radio mix. Live in Vienna 2008, keeps you on the edge of your seat. Dont touch that dial, since wont hear this anywhere but Death Disco Radio. Forget about TV, Forget about radio, Death Disco Radio brings you the sound of our generation. DJ Hell (or simply Hell) has balanced Detroit minimalism and Chicago acid-house as well as more spacious German trance and hardcore. Beginning his mixing career while still a teenager, Hell moved through punk and new wave to electro, house and hip-hop by the mid-’80s. His DJing gradually led to the start of his production career, and one of his first singles “My Definition of House Music” became a large club hit when reissued by Belgium’s R&S Records in 1992. He moved to Berlin to work with Hardwax Records during 1993-94, and also spent time in New York before moving back to his native Munich. Besides releasing his album debut Geteert und Gefedert on Disko B in 1994, DJ Hell recorded a volume in the Studio !K7 mix series X-Mix. His second full-length, Munich Machine, also appeared on Disko B—though credited simply to Hell. Besides continuing to DJ around the world, he also ran the International Deejay Gigolos label, which released tracks by Jeff Mills, Christopher Just and David Carretta, among others. Less

Death Disco Radio’s broadcast of the 1981 concert celebrates Kraftwerk’s show tonight at Myth Nightclub (April 19, 2008) for what is rumoured to be their last US appearance in Minneapolis/St. Paul MN. HISTORY- Kraftwerk’s pioneering work can be found in the use of computer-speech software, vocoders, Moog synthesizer, and drum machines. Live performance has always played an important part in Kraftwerk’s activities. Kraftwerk’s 2008 setup is quite different from the past, as they integrate the Tenori-On instrument/controller/interface by Yamaha, Jazz Mutant Lemur, and new custom 2008 vocoder setup. Also, despite their live shows generally being based around formal songs and compositions, live improvisation often plays a noticeable role in their performances—this trait can be traced back to the group’s roots in the experimental krautrock scene of the late 1960s, but significantly, it has continued to be a part of their playing even as they make ever greater use of digital and computer-controlled sequencing in their performances. Kraftwerk’s most significant influences on popular music include: the musical form, and style of electronic arrangements, in the genres broadly known as “synth pop”/”techno pop”/”chip wave”/”electro pop”, and in the countless subgenres of electronic music or techno. After several early experimental albums, their breakthrough came in 1974 (1974 in music) with the Autobahn album and “Computer World,” “Trans-Europe Express,” “The Man Machine,” “Computer Love,” “Expo 2000,” “Electric Cafe,” and “Tour De France Soundtracks. bm259 Fingerprinting the German Government

The German minister who famously believes in law and order and high security and knowing as much about citizens as possible, has now - himself- been fingerprinted. Whats more, the fingerprints are being distributed all over the world as part of a very strong statement and critique of what is supposed to be such a safe and secure method of identification. This podcast is recorded at the CCCB in Berlin, and it features the participation of some very kind and socially conscious hackers. As we sat around assembling the magazines, finger prints and all, I took out the recorder and asked them to explain how it is they got hold of the German interior minister’s finger prints and what the larger meaning of this action, will be. By the end of the recording they realized we hadn’t spoken in detail about many of the OTHER examples of what the German government is trying to do when it comes to data retention and privacy. Below is a list of links they recommended I include for better details about what is going on. EU-Wide implementation of the data retention German minister defends ‘Trojan horse’ spy tactic as needed to fight terror Schäuble: Facts Obtained Through Torture Should be Used Oh and as a bonus, the Finger Print story in Wired. As the producer of one of the best information sources coming out of Iraq, BaghdadBrian is passionate about raising awareness about what life is really like for regular Iraqi’s living under occupation. While attending the Republica Conference last week, he and I had a chance to walk around Berlin and even do some tourism. Just as you’ll hear us comparing in this podcast, we often found ourselves comparing the divided post war Germany days to the situation in Iraq today.. specifically when it comes to dividing a city with walls. Death Disco Radio presents LeChic (INTERNATIONAL DEEJAY GIGOLO RECORDS). It cannot be said that Susana and Rebeca have a background that is consistent with being musicians – one a customizing fashion designer and the other a geneticist – not exactly a typical start to a career in music. As soon as they collected enough records they started playing very informally at small events around the city: fashion clothing stores; private parties; expositions etc.. Less
