Sounds like cognates are the single greatest friend to folks learning Russian. However, as with most good things there are pitfalls. And these pitfalls are called ‘false cognates’. A ‘false cognate’ is a word that shares a similar pronunciation between two languages, but means one thing in one language and something else in the other. You’d sound pretty silly if a Russian asked you what you were doing (‘Что вы делаете?’) and you’d answer ‘Я читаю магазин’ (which means ‘I am reading a store’).... Download ‘False Cognates” examples. In a majestic Independence Day liftoff, Discovery and its crew of seven blasted into orbit Tuesday on the first space shuttle launch in a year.

NASA’s first-ever Fourth of July manned launch came after two weather delays and a new crack in foam insulation on the fuel tank. Shuttle managers said early video images showing small pieces of debris breaking away — and one even striking the shuttle — were not troubling.

NASA Administrator Michael Griffin said of the launch: “They don’t get much better than this.”

It took less than four months for over 100,000 MP3s to be distributed, no small feat. A month ago when I first wrote about the Shots, that number was at just over 50,000. The word on the street (or internet) about this young band is spreading faster than shit through a goose, so get on board. Back before it was called “podcasting”, this blog was set-up for wrong-note-casting Ear Reverends’ music. But, this has exceeded the more limited design of podcasting. -more->

So, I’m starting to update various technology things on this site to make it compatible with other podcast sites. With this post, I hope Wrong Notes will start to appear on sites like Odeo, iTunes, Yahoo! Podcasts and others.
