So much history to change, so little time! Wonderful contributions this week including a multi-clipfest from 1nkling, thought provoking words from Omewan and Mojojojo and some fantastic pairings of unique UK Nova voices. Topic conversations from Ellen & Tippi, Brandy & Simsy and Livia & Chris. Gena also dazzles us with her choices for favorite songs and life changing history. She even sings! Yay!!

Lilith & Adam, Chimp, Ellen and Omewan choose five people that they would invite to the perfect dinner party. They tell what they might expect from the stimulating dinner conversation as well as what might be served…or drunk! We also get to hear a very special guest getting ready to attend Lilith’s party. I read and talk about the list submitted by my friend Gena…hoping her own beautiful voice graces this show soon!

A couple more highlights from last year’s Christmas sing off to prepare for the one coming up on December 19th! A Maz gem as well as a tribute to one of UK Nova’s favorite deejays.

Chatter about this week’s Awards leads to a gorgeous song from Iyatoni, he of the “Two Time UK Nova Award Winning DJ team of Peace & Iyatoni!” Congrats P & I!!!

The latest – and last, for the next six months
or so – version of this presentation surveying what I have
been recently calling e-learning 2.0, delivered at ADETA’s
2005 conference in Edmonton. Like my presentation a few
days ago, i survey trends, explain what I mean by
e-learning 2.0, and project into the future. Some new
slides and resources are added. The MP3 audio is also
available, which is worth more than the slides as the
actual talk came out very differently.
also available. (mpeg) By Stephen Downes, Stephen’s Web,

12-31-06 at The Worship Center. Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) – For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Hope = Expectant of God. The law of expectation is based on believing not only that God can but that He will. Start the new year with renewed desire, remembering God’s faithfulness, and keep building an eternal perspective. (Pastor Sam Smucker)

A lot of media and telecomm issues have been on the table in Congress and at the FCC this year, from network neutrality and media ownership to the national cable TV franchise.

The first chapter of The Plot to Save Socrates (2006) unplugged – just me reading it … no sound effects, no music, no audience … except you …

Entertainment Weekly called The Plot to Save Socrates “challenging fun” ...

The novel was published in hardcover by Tor Books. An audio book with sound effects, music, and the works – read by Mark Shanahan – is available from Listen & Live. A trade paperback of the novel was published by Tor in February 2007.

In this clip, I read the first chapter from a comfortable arm chair, late at night, in a quiet room…

MsB’s 2005 Highlights 2005 has been a fun filled year, starting off with an outdoor dance party in the South Island of New Zealand. The Full Circle was Extreme Partying to say the least, but as Billy Connelly says, there is no such thing as bad weather – only the wrong clothing. The people we met more than made up for the wet, and some amazing things came from our Full Circle experience. Like a chance meeting on a muddy dance floor which led to our first NZ TV appearances. A campfire produced the talented Beatnick, who is now doing a live set once a month on our radio show. May brought the Twisted Birthday Bash celebrating a year of Twisted Radio, and their third year as an online community. It was a great chance to meet with Twisties old and new, and it’s always fun to put a face to an online persona. In June I went on a Rororua roadtrip where I got to fly over White Island, and visit the Wai-o-tapu thermal area with it’s boiling mud and geysers. In August we launched our live VJ Show with an 8 hour set for DV8 at The Studio. I’ve wanted to VJ that space for over four years, so it was wonderful to finally realise that dream. It was also an honour to meet the irrepressible Bob Harvey the mayor of Waitakere City. 2006 is going to be a great year for Waitakere creatives and you can hear all about it in my podcast interview with Bob Harvey [3.6 MB]. September’s fun kicked off with the Mohawk Media crew at Kiss VJing for Yoji Biomehanika. This was followed by a small flurry of TV appearances. When you’re normally behind the camera it’s strange to be suddenly in the spotlight, but it was fun for a change of perspective. Chelfyn popped up on TV3 News and Campbell Live before we both appeared live on SKY TV. October’s highlight for me was the interview I did with Liz Barry on Radio New Zealand. It was a chance to reflect on how talented the TMet producer team is and it was great hear music off our label on New Zealand’s National radio station. It kind of validates our crazy ideas when people outside of the scene notice what we are doing. One of the best things to come out of 2005 is being able to do our Twisted Radio shows remotely. We’re going to be doing more live to air broadcasts with LIVE NZ dance & electronica acts next year, so watch this space for details. Listen out for a TMet Special on Twisted Radio on New Year’s Eve. Until then Happy Holidays from TMet Recordings. Lots of love, MsB XX

I go, He comes – Charles Corno’s sermon looks into the discourse between Jesus and his disciples concerning His ministry on earth, the outpouring of the Spirit at His departure and the future struggles His followers will have to endure. Jesus encourages them by His promise that the Spirit will always be with them. John 16:1-15

There are four screen networks that touch the everyday lives of many consumers: TV, Web, mobile phones, and out-of-home media. Stephen Randall, CEO of LocaModa and founder of Symbian, explains that, without a strategy to connect the dots between these four screens, the target market or many products and services might just as well be on the dark side of the moon.

Okay here’s the story: every Friday some friends of mine kill time at work by having a little e-mail rap battle.. they each type up a verse, then get someone to judge all the raps and pick the hottest, err, keystyle.

Last week I agreed to be a guest judge, and sifted through all the CCs to pick out what I thought was a clear winner.. my two friends also made the same pick, and we reported the unanimous decision. But one of the other contestants, who had offered his rap in the form of a Powerpoint presentation, was salty about seeing all that effort go to waste, I guess.. so he took a shot at the judges, writing back “If you can’t write a good rhyme, don’t judge them!”

Needless to say, I could not let this <strike>chance to do something totally silly</strike> challenge go unmet. So here’s the verse I threw together for him.

Every three years, the amount of computer processing you can buy for a thousand dollars doubles. By 2025, your desktop machine will have more computational power, and more memory, than you do. Is Homo sapiens about to replace himself? Guest Ray Kurzweil is suggesting that machines will soon outstrip human intelligence, leading to a discontinuity in our existence called The Singularity. Join us as we discuss this singular topic… and bring a machine with you.

Guests: Futurist Ray Kurzweil, author of The Singularity is Near, reporter Bud Gundy, and Jill Tarter, Director of the Center for SETI Research at the SETI Institute

Gnome News is Good News SoftGnome is out of the bag

Our latest PhoneGnome add-on, SoftGnome, is now available for testing by PhoneGnome owners.

SoftGnome let’s PhoneGnome owners take their home phone service with them wherever they go (wherever there is an Internet connection).
I’ve been waiting for this for awhile. This will let me mess around with my PhoneGnome a bit more. David’s been focused on getting the easy to use part of it working first, for geeks SoftGnome is an important piece.

Disclosure: I’m an investor and advisor.
