For week 5, we focus on artist Richard Misrach and SJMA’s recent acquisition Untitled, from the series On the Beach, photographed by Misrach. For the podcast we spoke with gallery owner Robert Mann who represented Richard Misrach for over 20 years and even traveled with him several summers through the desert Southwest. In addition, we interviewed geologist, SJMA board member and Misrach collector, Peter Lipman who shares his personal insight on Misrach’s work. During the 8 week run of the exhibition New Year, New Gifts, the San Jose Museum of Art will offer each week a podcast highlighting one of the artists in the show. The artist in the series are: Hung Liu, Jack Zajac, Rick Arnitz, Ruth Asawa, Richard Misrach, Amy Kaufman, Helen Lundberg and Manuel Neri. We hope that visitors will download these podcasts and bring their iPods into the museum to experience the works first hand with the audio.
