TAKEHARU KUNIMOTO AND THE LAST FRONTIER is the world’s first bluegrass band incorporating the Japanese traditional music instrument “shamisen” in their compositions. The band is led by Takeharu, who was born and still lives in Japan, who met Bill Monroe on one of Bill’s tour of the country. With a fusion of traditions and traditional bluegrass and “rokyoku” that is the Japanese traditional performing art, the band has released 2 CD’s and toured both the US and Japan. HOT CLUB OF COWTOWN bring their high energy brand of Western Swing and Hot Jazz back to the WoodSongs stage. The band will be debuting material from their forthcoming album that will be released in the fall. In 2006, they toured with Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson and The Mavericks.. Less
