Cancer Research UK has announced that 5 new genes have been discovered which may contribute to the development of Breast cancer. Up to now we’ve only known about a couple of rare genes, Braca 1 and Braca 2, which have a powerful effect and we know of several women who’ve been found to have the genes and have gone on to have prophylactic double mastectomies. So what does this new information tell us and how useful is it? Sarah Bennet is a radiographer who was diagnosed with a genetic strain of breast cancer in 2004.
