Brains In the News by Andrew McCaskey There seems to be a lot of brainy activity lately - from the current edition of Wired Magazine to the article today from Scientific American on the use of energy in the body. Our personal involvement began about a month ago watching a PBS fundraiser on the Brain Fitness Program. In addition to supporting the local PBS fund drive, we took the plunge on the PositScience Brain training program - an expensive but fun pastime that so far has resulted in a lot of measurable exercises but not enough brainpower increase. The notion that the brain can be influenced, molded and improved in function is not a new one - but seems to be coming into vogue. Not that it has anything to do with Baby Boomers hitting retirement age.
