Mitch Horowitz is the editor-in-chief of Tarcher/Penguin Books in New York, specializing in spiritual and occult books. He has published some of the leading titles in esoterica today, including “The Secret Teachings of All Ages: Readers’ Edition” by Manly P. Hall. Mitch joins us to discuss his forthcoming book on the occult in America, coming from Bantam. In our conversation, we discuss Mitch’s journey into the occult, spiritual, mystical, and metaphysical. He talks about his research into the history of America and its “re-making” of the occult. We then get into discussing many of the notable occult figures throughout recent history (Cagliostro, Blavatsky, Olcott, Case, Hall, and others), the differences between European occultism and American occultism, and the Authentic Tradition.Mitch’s knowledge and wisdom shines in this conversation, to say nothing of the amazing books he has helped deliver to the world. relevant links: Mitch Horowitz “Count Cagliostro” Wikipedia entry “Madame Blavatsky” Wikipedia entry “Henry Steel Olcott” Wikipedia entry “Theosophical Society” Wikipedia entry “The Story of the Hermetic Brotherhood of Light” by T Allen Greenfield “Paul Foster Case” Wikipedia entry Paul Foster Case Resource Page “C.C.
