Although some hits will emerge from the slew of new online entertainment programming from independent producers, for the most part these producers will comprise a "cottage industry" of small, "long tail" content creators, says Greg Baumann. Greg, who was the Los Angeles bureau chief of Bloomberg before taking over Television Week, the big industry trade publication published by Crain, says that everyone is trying to figure out the business model. He believes that the television studios can successfully enter the online video programming space. He is astonished by the amount of venture money going into original programming and video sharing platforms. He says the relevant term for all of this is "burn rate." Greg was a participant in our industry summit held earlier this week in Washington. He came all the way out from Los Angeles to join us. How awesome is that. Thanks Greg. --- Andy Plesser Disclosure: Beet.TV and Television Week collaborate on the joint coverage of some industry events and stories. Less
