Frustrated with someone close to me who was in an abusive relationship, I wrote this short story. To be enjoyed either literally or metaphorically… A host at Chicago Public Radio’s vocalo.org also spruced it up with music and played in on-air. Check out his version here. -strepsata

I realize that no one really visits here much anymore because I’m lame at updating (except for the spammers of course - they adore me). Regardless, I thought I would share this brief composition that I’m roughing out at the moment. I used sounds recorded late at night in my neighborhood, and then some vocoder playing. It’s the first audio piece I’ve done with no specific visuals in mind for quite some time. I’m sure I can polish it up, but I thought I’d give you a listen. I’m just wired tonight and feeling creative. -strepsata

I was away for a while getting my age-change operation, but I return in this podcast with a new improved ENHANCED podcast (watch in iTunes or on your iPod to get the full effect). I play some rare classics by the Frogs, talk about my theory of time, and about licking sweaty girl feet. I hypnotize you, and then I play my new favorite sound. Enjoy please. -strepsata

It’s been a long time and I return after a period of mourning. In this podcast I perform the shredded call to prayer and remember a lost loved one who passed away at age 28 just two weeks ago. There is an interesting connection regarding menstruating in a mosque. Included in the show: “Shredded Call To Prayer,” perfomed live by Strepsata Strepsata describes the details of an Islamic funeral and reads a segment of her recently deceased brother-in-law’s novel, Moths and Flowers.
This podcast is all about me. It features my own sound work and a collaboration with DCLXVI. Inspired by American Idol losers, I also have made it my goal to embarass myself more often. And thus, I have done my own cover of Megacolon by Fischerspooner, in honor of people with bowel problems everywhere. Included in the show: “Bacon Bits” by Strepsata, originally composed for one of Usama and my collaborations called “Portrait” background music: “Bismoc UX” by Majongg Strepsata’s cover of “Magacolon” by Fischerspooner background music: “Dalonah” Flesh pt. 1, from Flesh by DCLXVI, featuring the short story “Melanie’s Freak,” by Strepsata “Twisted,” by Psychic TV I get a lot of my music from this place.

I am back with this podcast, by far my most embarassing effort. My advice: Don’t toke and cast. I try to read to you, and play some music. Not the strongest podcast, but it includes music given to me by a cab driver, and other super good music which makes it all worth it. Really. Included in the show: Noisy Daughter Theme No.1 by Strepsata Music given to me by my cab driver: Lata Mangeshkar Readings from Marlene + Narcissism and Death by Mariarosa Sclauzero. Order her out-of-print books here: Last time I checked, they had a copy of Marlene for FIVE CENTS! “Flesh and Bones” by TheThe “Ist Es Farbig?” by Cobra Killer & Kapajkos, on the CD “Mandolineorchester” “26th Floor,” by Aoki Takamasa + Tujiko Noriko, on the CD “28″ I get a lot of my music from this place.

At long last I got around to editing this podcast from last week. It’s a long and progressively fun and interesting interview with two fine gentlemen from Berlin, namely Razi Barakat (Boy From Brazil) and VJ Safy Sniper. They stayed with us for a few days and partied with us at the Z Film Festival. Safy was armed with a video camera the entire time, so I managed to get the audio from a few of his clips. Included in the show: “Bedazzled” - my favorite selection from Razi’s collection. From a 1967 movie by the same name. Razi and Safy talk about their work, their U.S. tour, cultural exchange, media recycling, performing in Israel and Palestine, and their vision of the future. Audio clips from the last Z Film Festival as well as the party that raged til dawn. “I Need a New Tape” by Bongwater. My shows are taking a bit longer because I’ve been dealing with some personal and family criseeeeez. Yeah, it’s been a rough time. So bare with me f...

Man oh man, we had a harddrive crash that stopped us dead in our tracks! We lost a few entries, but I think I’m getting it all back on-line and functioning once again. The last podcast, if you missed it, was this podcast. It’s just me and my hubby rambling about the FBI’s new “obscenity squad” and some other stuff… I don’t have the patience for listing show notes right now. But included are Mahjongg, Boy From Brazil, and some really old classic Ravi Shankar, and then more Boy From Brazil (see my links for the related websites). You may have noticed, however, that I now have implemented an e-mail subscription service in the sidebar so that you can be e-mailed whenever I post a new podcast! Thanks for your patience, and I return you to our regularly scheduled madness. -strepsata

After a busy week, I’ve finally gotten around to posting this podcast involving the naked drunken neighbors and wet interns. Also, introducing the Lovely Little Girls. Included in the show: “Aa Jaane Jaan” intro (classic Bollywood) Check out painter Gregory Jacobsen’s opening at Zg Gallery; 300 W.
Very Important Podcast

We got an interesting phone call today that I’ve included bits of in this podcast. One Iraqi tells us what’s really going on in Baghdad these days… Included in the show: “Relax” by Bobby Conn My husband’s cousin, T, called from Amman Jordan. He’s on vacation from the horrid conditions in Baghdad, Iraq and gives us a mental picture of one possible future of his country. He makes a statement to any Americans who care to listen. This, and some even more moving parts of the conversation, will be included in the documentary NICE BOMBS. “Ordinary Violence” by Bobby Conn This show took priority over my naked drunken night with the neighbors. But I’ll put that podcast up soon. It is my pleasure to help provide a bridge between here and there. -strepsata
