Murray, a fellow at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington DC, makes the compelling&#8212;and controversial&#8212;argument that too many high school graduates are being pushed to enter  4 year residential colleges in pursuit of a Bachelor&#8217;s degree. He argues that the BA degree is useless for a large portion of students, given than 1/3 drop out before finishing the degree. 

For Murray, rigorous certification tests based on content knowledge specific to certain professions might be preferable &#8211;and more cost effective&#8212;than the traditional 4-year bachelor&#8217;s degree. Murray&#8217;s lecture was delivered on April 2, 2009 at NYU&#8217;s Kimmel Center for Student Life.</description>
