      <title>Paulo Rants About Podcasts</title>
      <link>http://odeo.com/episodes/835289-Paulo-Rants-About-Podcasts</link>
<description>I hate the word &#8220;podcast.&#8221; The term was coined to express the ease with which the common man could broadcast audio content over the internet, but the first time I ever heard it, of course I thought it had something to do with being able to share music straight from a person&#8217;s iPod to the web, so imagine my disappointment when I found that it had nothing to do with iPods or any other kind of music player, and that the word just refers to publishing audio through a feed. What was wrong with &#8220;audiolog&#8221; or &#8220;voice blogging&#8221; or any of the other myriad existing words coined for this? It got worse, of course, when NASA published a recording of a talking astronaut to their website and called it a &#8220;podcast,&#8221; without a feed or anything. So now plain old audio files are podcasts? The word needs to die. ASAP. Because I die a little inside everytime someone says it. So it&#8217;s the word &#8220;podcast&#8221; or me, people. What&#8217;ll it be?</description>
