This is from a winter mid-day on 106.9 WZEZ in Madisonville, Kentucky. I was given 100% creative freedom on EZ and really enjoyed my time there. The best thing about this station was the studio itself. Our studio was glassed in at the very front of the building right ON the main street that ran through the city. As you stood at the well lit controls, you were VERY visible from the street especially on cloudy days or after dark. There was a spiral staircase behind the controls that led up to a couple of party rooms. This is a sample half hour unedited. You will hear music and all. Thanks

This was a Saturday night shift of mine in the early 1990’s on WCBH. GREAT STATION to work for and great music to play!! What else…hmmm…the WCBH studios were located in downtown Casey. Our Arbitron numbers during this period beat some of the stations in the Terre Haute market. We also were the party station. I’ve never done more remote broadcasts than when I was on the air at 104.3. Bars, festivals, concerts, chili cookoffs, etc. This is a typical Saturday night shift. The guy who is on before me (Bob McKay) would drive down from CHICAGO to do this 8 hour air shift. He was hoping to get experience so he could get work in Chi-town. Our night time man (John Evans) pops into the studio to harrass me. He was drawing naked women on the studio window in front of me and mooning me (ala Berg). Speaking of…I believe I play a request for Berg (who was at home filling a waterbed)on this show.

Rich and I did a morning team on 90fm two days a week. Rich was from Peoria and was a funny dude. You will hear a phone call to the LLC copy center to see if any pop quizes are being printed, plus a call to our radio boss, Mike Bradd. Although I still sound like a cheese, I think it’s at least mildly entertaining.

This is my first official air check and was one of my first nights on the air at Lake Land. Larry Oathout recorded it for me and gave it to me one afternoon. You will hear WLBH employee Brett McKinley exiting the room a few seconds into this. I would eventually get him fired (accidentally). That’s what happens when you say F**K on the 5:05pm news reel on Stereo 97 and forget to tell the night man to be careful cueing it up. I have since learned how to say Creedence and that Bruce Springsteen is not a band unless accompanied by the E street band. Thank you. If you listen to this intoxicated, it will probably be more enjoyable.

Thanks to J.O. for taping it that morning even if it did cause a slight squeal. BTW…that little baby is now an 18 year old boy with size 13 shoes.
