A “letter-poem” I wrote to my younger brother as he was stationed in Irag at the age of 37. . . Most of these poems only get read by the person or persons they are written for if they wind up in print. I guess I am too lazy to use a stamp, huh?

In remembrance of this year’s World AIDS Day, I thought I would read a poem from my latest book, FIRST CHILL: A COLLECTION OF POETRY. After surviving over 13 years with HIV, the best thing I can recommend anyone to help them “get through” would be to find something they love to do, and learn to do it well enough to make it your legacy. I know that sounds a bit defeatist, but people with the virus will understand, so will many others. All I am saying is to leave your mark.
