Real Traffic, My “Nakedness” - and Happy Birthday to me!

By the time this is published, it will indeed be my birthday on the East coast, where I’m currently located. And I definitely wanted to take some time out to celebrate that, so I’m planning on not working at all tomorrow. Yay me! What does that have to do with you? At some point in one of these videos I tell you exactly what you can do on my birthday to make me smile. :) Okay, seriously though, what this has to do with you is that every year, on my birthday, I’ve sent out a special newsletter, blog post, birthday gift to all my pals, something. This year I’ve decided to be naked. Yeah, that’s drama, and kinda hype-y. But I bet you want to know what it means, doncha? If you don’t, you can always just leave. . . . Still there, huh? Thought so. What it means this year is that I’m going to, right now, for the first time, give a video peek into the stats of my site. Not a picture of last year’s stats. Not a screenshot of last week&#82...

But I bet you want to know what it means, doncha? If you don’t, you can always just leave. . . . Still there, huh? Thought so. What it means this year is that I’m going to, right now, for the first time, give a video peek into the stats of my site. Not a picture of last year’s stats. Not a screenshot of last week’s stats. My web site stats for 2009, from the first three months of the year that I wasn’t promoting… and a look at the dramatic difference it made when I am actually well enough to promote this year. Where does nakedness come in? That’s how it makes me feel, totally exposed. But I’m comfortable being this open with you. Of course, I can’t give it all up - I’m not THAT easy, LOL! The one thing I didn’t share, that I’m only telling folks signed up to Traffic Reality is what links send me traffic. It’s surprising information that I also keep close to my chest. But I show what keyword phrases send me traffic, what kind of traffic Google has sent me this month, and exactly how many unique visitors I’ve had this month, and how my traffic tripled about two days into turning my promotion machine up from low to medium. I’ll also point out how you can tell that this isn’t Bot traffic - at least 89% of my traffic is from real human people looking at my site. I’m sure most of you remember this time last year that I physically couldn’t promote my site and the traffic kept coming - but what it looks like after a day or so will shock you. Here’s the first video where I do a quick overview - look in the upper right corner at the time - this video was recorded live and just published a few minutes ago. The date stamp is there as well. You may want to view it full screen for the full effect. Or you can see the first stats video here if you’re reading via the feed, or as this is republished on Facebook. And here’s the continuation in the second video. Again, notice the time. The only reason there’s even a break is due to Jing Pro’s 5 minute limit per video. You may want to view it full screen for the full effect. Or you can see the second stats video here if you’re reading via the feed, or as this is republished on Facebook and other sites. Now, why am I showing you how much traffic I get to this site? Because it’s the one thing web site promotion professionals and marketers Will Not do whether they know what they’re doing or not, because the results are so often taken out of context. For example, the amount of visitors I got to this site this month pales in comparison to traffic I’ve generated for clients and for some of my other sites. However, given that the majority of people online have absolutely no interest in a site about web site traffic? It’s pretty darn good. For the average online business person or marketer, it would be phenomenal. To show you that those results are possible for everyone. You’ve heard my story, most likely. If not, go to the Evergreen Traffic sales page and read it. The bottom line is, yeah I’m an expert at this, but the methods I use are easily boiled down from rocket science into steps anyone can follow. For me. To give myself a much needed pat on the back for still having it, 11 years after my very first website went online. To get you to give Traffic Reality a try. Traffic Reality is my new membership site. Well, it’s my new, old membership site. I set it up to show people how to get better traffic results to their site back in 2006 and had to take it down. This year, with help from friends, I put it back up. If you’ve heard of Evergreen Traffic, in which I showed three simple traffic techniques and showed you how to combine them to multiply their effects, then you’re familiar with my concept of blending different traffic methods into a system in order to magnify their effect. For example, search marketing and article marketing can go well together if implemented properly. Try shortcuts or mis-judge how to blend them, and you’re courting disaster. In Traffic Reality, I start you off with one traffic method, and teach it to you in bite-sized pieces, show you how to put it on auto-pilot or semi-auto-pilot, then, add another traffic stream. By the end of the second week of implementing the steps you see your first incremental traffic increase. The next month I teach you how to maintain those resuls while simultaneously increasing your traffic with another method, broken down into about a dozen of lessons, sharing literally hundreds of traffic tips, methods, techniques and sources. So essentially, it’s Evergreen on steroids, split down into pill size. These are the exact same tactics I use to promote my sites. And a site like this one is in a difficult spot - almost every business is at least twice as easy to generate traffic for than mine is. Until my birthday ends, the price special that expired last week is on. So, if you want to get into Traffic Reality at a 20% discount price that you’ll be locked into forever, you want to join today. Oh yeah, all members can also sign up for the affiliate program. It’ll be a while before we introduce it to Clickbank - they have to approve the site and everything, it’s not like with a product. Current members, look for an incredible bonus at the end of the week for the next 9 weeks. One hint: if you’ve seen all the main pages of the site, you already know what it is. I’ll be back with more birthday madness later on in the day. Need Real Visitors Now? Not a picture of last year’s stats. I’ll also point out how you can tell that this isn’t Bot traffic - at least 89% of my traffic is from real human people looking at my site. I’m sure most of you remember this time last year that I was physically unable to work and couldn’t promote my site… But the traffic kept coming, because of the way I have set up my sites. That was shocking to some people, that you could keep having traffic for months or up to a year without manually promoting your site every day, with no spammy software, and no virtual assistants. But if you think that was a shocker, wait until you see what it looks like after a day or so of me just doing a BIT of promotion. This is not full strength, now. Meaning none of this traffic is from JVs or affiliates, StumbleUpon, Digg, press releases, podcasting, video sites, link campaigns or any offline promotion . This is just from search, blogging an average of twice a week, RSS traffic, one article published, a few Tweets, two newsletters sent, and very light auto-pilot promotion on Facebook. Here’s the first video where I do a quick overview - look in the upper right corner at the time - this video was recorded live and just published a few minutes ago. You can see the time changing in my taskbar in the upper right - it matches up with the video, this video is unedited. Again, you may want to view this full screen for the full effect. Or you can see the second stats video here if you’re reading via the feed, or as this is republished on Facebook and other sites. But I show what keyword phrases send me traffic, and how much, what kind of traffic Google has sent me this month, exactly how many unique visitors I’ve had this month, and, how my traffic tripled about two days into turning my promotion machine up from low to medium. Again, you may want to view this full screen for the full effect. Or you can see the second stats video here if you’re reading via the feed, or as this is republished on Facebook and other sites. For me. To give myself a much needed pat on the back for still having “it”, 11 years after my very first website went online. Current members, look for an incredible bonus at the end of each week of lessons for the next 9 weeks. One hint: if you’ve seen all the main pages of the site, you already know what it is. I’ll be back with more birthday madness later on in the day. Need Real Visitors Now? Join Traffic Reality, where we’ll teach you end-to-end Website Promotion Techniques from Search to Blogging to Social Media. Learn how to integrate all your promotion efforts into a plan that keeps working even when you’re not. convert this post to pdf.</itunes:summary>

I’m back again, continuing the Facebook Business Basics series. If you went to my Facebook page, you saw two videos about how you can find people on Facebook who may be interested in you and let them come back to your site. This video talks about what to do once you have someone viewing your profile. How can you serve them and get to know them better, so that they will want to ask you what you do, explore your site, or pay attention to your updates when they publish to their Facebook home page? The key to Facebook is to let people market to themselves, and concentrate on attracting them through enhancing their lives.
I am a follwer of Michelle McPherson (you should be too, listen to the audio to find out why) and she retweeted a blog post she was reading by Ed Dale. It’s truly one of the most insightful posts by anyone in internet marketing in years. Top ten. You should really go read it. It will give the audio post context, even though I have to do a disclaimer because I mis-read some of it the first time around, partly because it was SO interesting to read. The post in question is It’s Not You It’s Me - My Goodbye To Facebook Friends. You want to know how good it is. Here’s a little taste. You see, we are not “real people”. People who study Internet marketing intensely as we do, use facebook completely the wrong way. Actually let me rephrase that, we do not use it the way “real people” use it. I’ll come back to this. When was the last time you heard any internet marketer - any marketer period - say that many of their peers are approaching a new technology incorrectly - and that they believe it so strongly that they are going to stop? A true leader, a real leader, leads by example. And Ed Dale backing up his word by withdrawing from Facebook and starting over takes him to a whole new level of respect in my eyes. The majority of people I know, marketers or not, are very much a “do as I say, not as as I do” type of attitude. I’ve been told several times that if I would just bend the truth, or teach people things that are not tested, or proven to work yet, that I’d be a millionaire by now. To me, that’s too high a price. I have to live with myself. I have to sleep at night - and anyone on Twitter with me already knows I have pain-related insomnia - I need all the sleep I can get! LOL! Getting back to Ed Dale, I have a confession to make. In the audio below there’s a mini-rant that I incorrectly associated Ed with. The point still stands, but it does not apply to Ed at all. Before we go any further, here’s the part that I misderstood. Ed wrote: Anytime I see that many people flooding to a service like facebook - you have to take notice. HAVE TO… But doesn’t Facebook SUCK FOR MARKETING? Unless they have Facebook product most marketers will tell you Facebook sucks for marketing a product or service. “facebook has cut their nose to spite their face” is the common theme. I thought he was saying that only a person who has a Facebook product will say that Facebook is good for business, which is a completely different thing. Having re-read what he wrote, I actually agree with Ed’s statement: It does suck for marketing. The entire book I used to sell about Facebook was about teaching people how to get business on Facebook WITHOUT marketing. He goes on to say: I’m going to pull the plug and start again, friend (if they’ll still have me) family, work collegues and people I have met and know. I’m not recommending this course of action for anyone else, it could be a total bonehead move. I’m just a huge believer of not jamming a square peg into a round hole. Twitter is perfect for me to communicate with people who have a vauge interest in what I have to say, Facebook PAGES is also good for this. I actually hope more people follow his example. I really believe you should go read the whole post, and share your opinions with him. This is my way of sharing my opinions, using trackback. This was recorded via cell phone. No bells and whistles, but you should be able to hear me just fine. I read a really engaging blog post by Ed Dale. It was a great post and I’m going to write more about it later on in the week, but here are some of my gut reactions. I also talk about how I’ve made money using social media. It’s not in the way you might think — unless you know me already. This is a precursor to a post I’ll be writing about how marketing in social media has gone horribly wrong, what my results are doing it my way, how I’ve been able to help people and free ways you can try the same thing. In my situation, starting over on Facebook for me would be a total disaster, and I get more into why on the audio. It has mostly to do with the fact that I use Facebook for business networking. And if you do it right, business networking IS marketing, it’s just a kinder, gentler variety that’s never “in your face”. As Ed said, we’re not regular people - I expand that to include all entrepreneurs. Since I’m not a regular person, I don’t gravitate towards regular people. And I set up my personal experience in Facebook to make as many real connections as I can handle - people who have joined me for networking only see the networking side of me. Folks who are family see the family side. People who are friends see my friends side. I’m amazed that more people don’t know how customizable Facebook can be on your own side, not just from the perspective of protecting your privacy. Because I’m not a regular person, the non-regular way I use Facebook works for me. I make deep, lasting connections with people I wouldn’t otherwise meet OR I re-establish links with people I lost touch with OR I throw a sheep at my Mom. It depends on which Tinu I am that day, and only the people who know that face see that Tinu. But I still have to applaud Ed. I fully support him and feel he is making the right choice for himself. And audio. Which after no further ado, you can listen to, below. This was recorded via cell phone. No bells and whistles, but you should be able to hear me just fine. In this Minicast: More of my opinion on Ed Dale’s blog post, some of it I later retracted in this post, above. I also talk about how I’ve made money using social media. It’s not in the way you might think — unless you know me already. <itunes:summary>I am a follower of Michelle MacPhearson on Twitter (you should be too, listen to the audio to find out why), and she tweeted a link to a blog post she was reading by Ed Dale. It’s truly one of the most insightful posts by anyone in internet marketing in years. Top ten. You should really go read it. It will give the audio post context, even though I have to do a disclaimer because I mis-read some of it the first time around, partly because it was SO interesting to read that I zipped through it at the speed of light the first time.
Have you noticed there have been a lot of Twitter products out recently? Have you noticed that some of these products are written by people who have *no* clue? Of course, as I’ve recently stated, Twitter is a communications device, and since I didn’t invent Twitter, I refuse to dictate how you should use it. I will only advise you what to do to get my results. Though I will also point out, as I have before, that a phone is a communications device as well, and while there isn’t a “wrong”way to use it, it’;s much harder to hear a conversation if the receiver is lodged in your behind. So in this Free Traffic Tips Minicast, I talk about: * My opinion on whether Twitter equals traffic * Under what circumstances can you actually make money using Twitter? * My results with Twitter * What are some things you should do on Twitter if you want my results? * What are some reasons to be on Twitter as a business person, if you want my results or better?
As always, please be aware that the free audios will NOT be studio quality. We’ve been told the volume changes at about 15 minutes in, but that if you turn up your volume, you can still hear just fine. Unfortunately I can’t correct this on the fly, still not well enough to do all the manuvering involved. MP3 File So here we are, we somehow made it to 2009. I checked and all my limbs are intact and in working order. Pretty much, anyway. Today, I wanted to start the New Year with what may well become the tradition of this site and the newsletter: more frequent audio updates. In this rebirrth of the Free Traffic Tips Minicast: * What's New with Me * What's New with Traffic Generation - the answer is going to be a huge surprise to some of you. * A Query About What's New With You We'll Have a Poll up you can vote on with the top answers to one of the questions in this audio — we're going to be asking YOU to help decide the direction of the year....
