Episode 7 - Pieces of Lullabies

For my grand return to the Broadcast after several months away (and unexpectedly so), I’m playing a handful of songs (and in several cases, pieces of songs) I found in a box after moving. I’m calling them lullabies since I had to play them very quietly since it was late and everyone else was asleep. You’ll also notice the new intro/exit music this time around. After a half-dozen episodes I thought it was time for a switch to something a bit more upbeat sounding. Enjoy!

Three brand new performances on my brand new ukelele. This week’s song selection includes two songs from my Discoverers CD (“Thinking of You” and “Howling in the Moonlit Night”), as well as a cover of “Farewell Jamaica” by Lord Burgess (made famous by Harry Belafonte), all performed on the ukelele by yours truly. Enjoy!

One brand new song (on a brand new guitar) and an older one are the items on today’s menu. “Every Love Dies” is about a man convinced his girl is going to leave him, and “Winnipeg Town” is a bit of satirical fun mixed with homesickness I had writing about Winnipeg from Windsor, ON while visiting family a few years back. Make sure you subscribe so you don’t miss next episode’s ukelele-theme.

Episode 4 - Rachael Hosein

This week’s Broadcast is a special one. It’s our first guest appearance, an interview and performance by Rachael Hosein, backup vocalist on my album Discoverers, singer/songwriter, artist, and photographer. Rachael sings “For the Moment” for us and I also surprise her with an old recording we made about eight years ago of her song “Tap My Foot”. Enjoy!

Episode 3 - The Spider and the Butterfly

A third new song in a row, this one about a spider who falls in love with the butterflies that keep landing in his net and so he lets them go instead of devouring them. It’s a metaphor for, well, just listen to the episode! And make sure you subscribe in time for next week’s episode when we have our very first guest.

Another new song this week entitled “Love Love Love” (some possible thievery from the Beatles there). This is about as pure and simple a lovesong as you can get. Enjoy!

I kick off the new Johnny Broadway podcast by playing a brand new song called “No Take-Backs” that I wrote yesterday. The song is a straight-forward folk (country?) rock song about starting over, making amends, forgiveness (or lack thereof) and all that good stuff. Enjoy!
