Many family members emigrated early; Kathe did NOT feel German, Kathe never wanted to return to Germany. In 1952, Lukas and she returned (via Spain) to visit his sister, and tries to diminish his hatred. Upon hearing German again (in Spain), Kathe was upset and threw-up in the street. Paul Fairbrook went to Hanover to retrieve his Mother's painting, and Paul contacted the Hanover newspaper. All of Lukas's writings (the only documents of German musical culture from the war years) from Germany survived. Lukas honored by a Stockton Club, the Stockton Arts Commission. Gluck's "Orpheus and Eurydice" produced by Lukas at Long Theater UOP. Neither Lukas nor Kathe are religious persons, although they both belonged to the synagogue, she had no religious education and could not read Hebrew, Kathe's parents were not Zionis...
