Underwood's owned an expensive German car in America.
Kentucky Convent High School Lukas teaches music (Sept 1939), Kathe nurse for 6 years.
Post-war Lukas seeks a job and Stockton College and College of the Pacific respond. 
Irving Goleman assists Lukas Underwood.
Not enough resources to produce an opera in Stockton at first.

Many family members emigrated early; Kathe did NOT feel German, Kathe never wanted to return to Germany. In 1952, Lukas and she returned (via Spain) to visit his sister, and tries to diminish his hatred. Upon hearing German again (in Spain), Kathe was upset and threw-up in the street.
Paul Fairbrook went to Hanover to retrieve his Mother's painting, and Paul contacted the Hanover newspaper. All of Lukas's writings (the only documents of German musical culture from the war years) from Germany survived.
Lukas honored by a Stockton Club, the Stockton Arts Commission. Gluck's "Orpheus and Eurydice" produced by Lukas at Long Theater UOP.
Neither Lukas nor Kathe are religious persons, although they both belonged to the synagogue, she had no religious education and could not read Hebrew,
