Her work has appeared in the anthology Whores and Other Feminists, Z Magazine, Feminism and Anti-Racism, and the University of California Hastings Law Journal. Brooks is also a board member of the Exotic Dancers Alliance, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in sociology at The New School. She is working on a book of interviews with sex workers of color. GUEST: Elvira Colorado, Chichimec Otomi of Coatlicue Theatre Company Elvira Colorado, Chichimeca Otomi, joined with her sister to form Coatlicue Theatre Company in 1988, named for the Mexican deity of creation and the earth. The company was formed for the purpose of seeking to explore and assert their indigenous identity, as well as to provide a voice for those experiences which are for the most part, absent from the mainstream media. They are writers, storytellers, performers and community activists and have conducted writing, storytelling and theatre workshops throughout the hemisphere as well as organized major festivals and indigenous celebrations. They are members of the American Indian Community House, Cetiliztli Nauhcampa Quetzalcoatl in Ixachitlan, the Hemispheric Institute of Performance and Politics at New York University and the Network of Ensemble Theatres. Their work has been published in numerous theatre journals and anthologies. GUEST: Rosa Clemente (REACH Hip Hop Coalition)Rosa Clemente, is the Director of Grassroots Advocacy and Community Outreach at the Community Service Society. No stranger to controversy, Brooks is a queer black feminist who helped organize the country???s first and only workplace union of sex workers at The Lusty Lady,a well-known peep show in San Francisco???s North Beach district. Brooks has gone on to interview sex workers across the country and has published several articles as a result. Her work has appeared in the anthology Whores and Other Feminists, Z Magazine, Feminism and Anti-Racism, and the University of California Hastings Law Journal. The company was formed for the purpose of seeking to explore and assert their indigenous identity, as well as to provide a voice for those experiences which are for the most part, absent from the mainstream media. They are writers, storytellers, performers and community activists and have conducted writing, storytelling and theatre workshops throughout the hemisphere as well as organized major festivals and indigenous celebrations.
