Presentation of “Living Shadows” – Eugeniusz Tytyk’s war memoirs. During WWII he spent five years in the Nazi concentration camps and prisons as a young Polish political prisoner (he was born in 1920). He spent 11 months in the notorius Auschwitz-Birkenau – the worst of the Nazi extermination camps where over 1.5 million people were murdered by the Nazis. Eugeniusz miraculously survived Auschwitz, but it wasn’t his last camp. After it, he was transported to Buchenwald and Ohrdruf camp and then participated in one of the tragic death marches from Buchenwald to Leitmeritz – his last camp. But even after the war ended, he still was in danger, this time he could be killed by the NKVD. Eugeniusz wrote about all his sufferings in the “Living Shadows” book, available from CafePress at:
