Susanne Noatsch, who's working on her master thesis at Leipzig University in Germany is studying podcasting and, I'm sure, will learn interesting things. If you're a podcaster, please help her out and
take this survey.

We have a new Flash widget that you can embed in your site. It's for a whole Podcast, not just individual mp3s. So if you are a podcast producer and you want to display your latest and greatest, go ahead.
Or if you just really like a podcast and want the shows on your site, that's fine too. The code for this podcast player is at the bottom of every podcast page. Just copy and paste. Above is the player for the
Kitty-Yo Podcast which is also
here.

Hellodeo is an easy way to record a video message with your webcam. Copy/paste the the code and post it anywhere you wanna share it like your
blog, your
myspace, or any web page you want.
Each video has a permalink too in case you want to email about it or just link to it from somewhere. This is another experimental beta project from some of us at Odeo so it's light on features and might have some bugs. Nevertheless, it's fun and easy.
Note: This is BETA! Case in point: we don't even have a "pause" button yet.

Ray (Odeo Flash engineer extraordinaire) recently got a
Verizon wireless xv6700. This snazzy little phone comes with Flash for Windows Mobile so Ray stayed up late last night and made a fun little Odeo player that works on Windows Mobile phones with Flash installed. If you have that, try out this
Odeo Mobile Player and see what you think. While you do that, Ray's gonna take a quick nap.

Last night we snuck out a beta version of a new Odeo interface we cooked up over soy lattes and late-night programming while the girlfriend was out of town.
Internally, we call it "Playjax," because it's
ajaxy and all about playing audio (get it?).
It has most (but not all) the features of the regular Odeo listening interfaceincluding downloading, subscribing, etc. But it's especially tuned to on-computer listening. Think about it as a web-based media player. A media-player with an ever-expanding breadth of content, which you can personalize to your listening tastes.
Anyway, we're still working on it, but it's pretty fun.
Check it out.
Caveat: It's only been tested in the latest Firefox, IE6, and Safari (and Safari has some problems).

The San Francisco magazine
7x7 has profiled Odeo star Merlin Mann of the
43 Folders Podcast in their July Issue.

"Mann's advice is making its way into short podcasts on the same site little pep talks on why small changes work better than huge ones, or how to organize your day according to your energy level instead of the clock. 'I’m not a very organized person,' he admits. 'But this is something we all have to face. No one ever taught us how to deal with 300 emails a day.' Until now that is."
Here's
Merlin's post about being featured in the magazine.

I'm undecided as to which team to root for in the final World Cup match. However, this I know for sure: the French football fans are loving this little ditty.
Zidane y va marquer!
You can put this on your site tooBut what about the other teams? Does anyone know about a really popular Italian football audio?

Scripting News: 7/1/2006: "We live in the age that Emerson predicted, self-reliance. Make your own music and your own products. Everyone gets to be creative. "
yes. yes. yes. The only thing missing from this quote is some thing about trade, exchange and sharing. Emerson was taking a political stance against restricted trade which works perfectly toward furthering Dave's point. Making our own products and music is only have of the modern creative experience. Now is is easier than ever to share our creations.
