Help Wanted: Web (2.0) Developer

We're looking for another top-notch coder to join Team Odeo on a permanent or contract-to-perm basis, ASAP. Our main application uses Ruby on Rails, so either experience with that or the ability to learn quickly is required. However, more important requirements include:
  • Extensive experience developing web applications, especially the back-end of high-scalability, consumer-oriented sites
  • Thorough knowledge with web standards, such as XHTML, XML, JavaScript, HTTP
  • Strong data structure and OO-design skills
  • A penchant for test-driven development
  • Helpful experience includes: Python, Ajax, RSS, web services, media/audio processing, Flash, and thinking up ideas that are just wacky enough to work
  • Interest in joining a risky, by-the-seat-of-the-pants startup with minimal bennies, in exchange for tons of impact, minimal bureaucracy, and some decent upside potential
About Odeo: We work hard, but keep sane hours (not a sleep-under-your-desk startup), use agile development processes (though we could use a little more), have an office with a view in San Francisco (right next to South Park), tend to prefer Macs (but it's okay if you don't), and are going to change what's in people's ears (and between them).

Send your resume and blog url to jobs at odeo.com.

Odeo one of Fortune's 25 "Breakout Companies"

Noah is a lousy deejay, according to Fortune. To be fair to Noah, that was a test post, and we're not launched yet—but that's what we get for giving early access to reporters.

Also, apparently, what we get, is the honor of being named one of Fortune's 25 Breakout Companies for 2005. This is Fortune's annual list, which used to be called "Cool Companies." I sense they wanted to be more businessey, so they downplayed the "cool" part. It's cool to be on the list, nonetheless.

Especially because I was on the list three years ago, with Pyra. And, funny enough, Noah and I met when he saw my picture in there, which looked like it was taken from his window. (He lived right behind me, and I worked from home at the time.)
